July 17: Student Showcase, July 19: Faculty Performance
Join us at the annual Rhythm World Student Showcase on July 17 to see and hear tap dancers from around the world as they share original, choreographed works and inspiring turns at improvisation! Training and emerging artists from Chicago, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Spain and more infuse American tap dance with global rhythms in solos and ensemble works that are often festival favorites.
CHRP presents rhythm-culture in performance, education and community development programs that foster great art and cultural pluralism.
Then, come back on July 19th for the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s final festival concert! We bring our annual tap dance festival concert from Rhythm World 34 down to the Studebaker Theatre in the Fine Arts Building, expanding percussive sound, space and time. Catch solos by the iconic Derick Grant, new champion breed Naomi Funaki, Flourish Dance Academy founder Martin Bronson, masterful artist Cartier Williams and CHRP’s own Lane Alexander, with new work being presented by faculty choreographer Sarah Savelli, including Karrissa Royster and Stone Soup Rhythms.
This is a free event!
Reservations will be honored on a first come, first served basis starting 1 hour prior to each event’s starting time. At 30 minutes before showtime, all unclaimed free reservations will be released to people on the waiting list. Seating capacity is limited and guests and patrons will be seated in the order in which they arrive.
